Uridine diphosphate-glucuronyl transferase 1A1 (UGT1A1) is an enzyme that catalyzes the glucuronidation of various compounds, including steroid hormones, bilirubin, as well as xenobiotics, such as irinotecan.  Genetic variation in the promoter region of the UGT1A1 gene, most commonly the UGT1A1*28 allele, results in reduced transcriptional activity and decreased enzyme expression. This can lead to impaired detoxification capacity and increased susceptibility to drug-related toxicity.

The EntroGen UGT1A1 Genotyping Kit is designed to detect and differentiate the UGT1A11 (TA)6 and UGT1A128 (TA)7 promoter polymorphisms in human genomic DNA. Using a streamlined real-time PCR workflow with allelic discrimination technology, the assay enables clear and reliable identification of UGT1A1 genotypes in a single test.

The UGT1A1 Genotyping Kit follows a simple and easy-to-use real-time PCR workflow that can be completed in approximately 2 hours, enabling rapid allelic discrimination in a streamlined format.

EntroGen’s UGT1A1 Genotyping Kit requires a real-time PCR instrument capable of detecting FAM and VIC fluorescent probes for accurate allelic discrimination of UGT1A*11 and UGT1A1*28 variants.

This assay includes all reagents required for PCR amplification and detection, along with validated wild-type and variant control materials to ensure reliable genotype calling and run performance.

Reagents and consumables for genomic DNA extraction are not included. Genomic DNA can be isolated from whole blood or other human samples using commercially available extraction methods, such as the EntroGen pureNA® Genomic DNA Isolation Kit.
